Reb Simcha Raphael, Ph.D., is a rabbinic pastor, and the founding Director of DA’AT INSTITUTE, which provides adult education and professional development programs on death awareness education, bereavement counseling skills, rituals of death and mourning, and the spirituality of afterlife, near-death experiences, and reincarnation.  As a bereavement therapist and pastoral counselor, Dr. Simcha Raphael offers individual and family grief counseling, bereavement groups and works with families to create meaningful death, burial and mourning rituals.  He is a free-lance adult educator on topics of mysticism, spirituality, death, afterlife, and bereavement and has authored Jewish Views of the Afterlife.  Dr. Raphael also is a transpersonal psychotherapist at Mount Airy Counseling Center, Philadelphia, PA; an adjunct faculty member in the Religion Department at La Salle University, Philadelphia, PA; and an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Jewish Studies at Temple University, Philadelphia, PA.
